FAQs

💡 General Info

  • The Taco 5K™ is a fun, family-friendly walking event that combines food, fitness, and fiesta vibes into one amazing day out. Participants stroll the Encinitas coastline, stop for tacos at local shops, and enjoy music, challenges, and community celebration along the way.

  • The first Taco 5K™ takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, along Highway 101 in Encinitas, California.

  • Sort of! It’s closer to 2.9 miles — but we like to say it’s The World’s Slowest 5K. There’s no timing chip, no rush, and plenty of taco breaks.

  • Start times run from 10 AM to 1:45 PM in 15-minute waves. Each group walks at its own pace, and the entire event wraps up around 5 PM.

Participants who wish to receive their medal should finish before 4:30pm.

  • Most participants spend about 2–3 hours walking, eating, and enjoying the route.

  • Not at all. It’s a walkable celebration of tacos and community — no timers, no pressure, just fun.
